I have a group of gardening friends and whenever our gardens are ‘having a moment’ we message each other to send an alert and invite people around to come and have tea. It’s nice to share what we’ve done with others who know just how much hard work has gone into it. The moment in my garden has to be when the hollyhocks come out. In the five years I’ve been here, the two or three plants I put in have multiplied exponentially to create an incredible hollyhock forest. Without really knowing how, I have provided exactly the right conditions for them and they are self seeding prolifically - so much so that I am now having to weed out hundreds of seedlings from the gravel.
