Pinching out the cosmos! Of course, thanks for the timely reminder Clare. Did you get much rain last night? We had a good inch here on the east Kent coast, it was SO welcome 🙏🏼

No rain here and we’re a bit desperate! First thing I did this morning was check the forecast and it looks like we’re in for some this evening.

Fingers crossed for you. It took me really by surprise but a client had warned me we were in for a deluge after a particularly sun scorched week so all the buckets and pots were assembled on the lawn !

Love a planned combination, so I’m always appreciative of these posts. Sometimes it helps gel a thought, like today’s post convinces me I ought to replace my Geum ‘Mai Tai’s with G. ‘Totally Tangerine’ for more visual impact.

On propagation, I’ve learned not to plant all my seeds at once and get swamped because I feel compelled to give every seedling a chance rather than discard some. Also I use deep root cell trays that remove the need for potting on because seedlings have room to develop a large enough root system to go from the cell straight into the ground.

We’ve had plenty of rain here in Perthshire, making everything lush and vibrant, but sadly temperatures for evenings in the garden are still some way off!

Beautiful sun in London and yes definitely need that rain please!

My cosmos self seeded and I am so reluctant to pinch out those defiant tall shoots, perhaps will do half?

Good to have self seeded cosmos! It shows how warm the winter was that they have come through. I know it’s counterintuitive to pinch them out but it makes much bushier plants with more flowers!
