Plant Combinations for May
May can be a transitional time in the garden, the tulips over and the main flowering event of June around the corner. Just as there is a ‘hungry gap’ in the veg garden in May, there is a hiatus in the flower garden too. I love the tapestry of colours and textures in the mounding foliage of the perennials, but you need colour too to add the interest your eye craves. Wallflowers, foxgloves, sweet rocket and geums are the flowers to turn to this month - as well as spring-flowering euphorbias for that acidic yellow-green hit that can lead the eye around a garden. Here are a few ideas for combinations that I have put together in my own garden.
