Winter blooms
Snowdrops, winter irises and scented shrubs to fill your garden with winter cheer
In this quiet time between Christmas and New Year, here is a piece about the flowers that bring colour and scent to the winter garden, from my book Winter Gardens. These precious blooms may be few and far between, but they light up little corners of the garden to remind you that spring is on the horizon, and that the coming year will be as abundant and as uplifting as the last. All the photos in this post are by Andrew Montgomery and are out-takes from the shoots for our book Winter Gardens. And if you want to read more about snowdrops, here is a previous post looking at some of the mouth-watering varieties available at Edulis Nursery.
