The Chiltern Seeds website and catalogue are the ultimate temptation - I want to grow everything! I'm champing at the bit to start sowing, but it's too cold in the greenhouse yet (we had a very hard frost overnight), and as we're still in house renovation mode the logistics of lots of seed trays indoors are just too much! So I'm planning to direct sow much more than I did last year.
I did do a dahlia order from Farmer Gracy, but Evri managed to destroy the parcel in transit (becoming rather common in my area). I didn't want to risk a second order with a company that used the same courier, so I've re-ordered very recently from Peter Nyssen, who use DPD. Crossing fingers!
The Zossima is amazing, and a new one to me. The arrangement of the seeds is mesmerising - I could gaze at it for ages.
I have to say I had a bad experience with a Farmer Gracy order too - some tulip bulbs in the autumn that didn’t arrive and they eventually refunded me. But then the delivery turned up about 7 weeks late. They need to change their carrier I think.
Amaranth hot biscuits is one of my favourites for cutting! I cannot recommend it enough for pairing in late summer with sunflowers and dahlias. I just crave those red/ orange/ rust colours in August after months of pastels
Amaranth is easy, beautiful, and to be honest, once it grows once, it will expand by itself every year. I did it once in my vegetable garden (because I wanted my vegetable garden to be more fun and fancy, I found amaranth a great deal for this purpose), and every year, even after returning my soil multiple time, layered it like a little pea princess bed, it comes!!
Thank you for the mention Clare! And I am so pleased you have one of my collections, I hope they grow well for you x
I got them into their pots today. Looking forward to seeing them come to life!

Thank you for selling it to me - I can feel I’m going to be a convert. Good idea with sunflowers too.
